Maldivians have also jeered at Minivan News’ vain attempts to save the reputation of its former Marketing Manager Simon Hawkings who is responsible for a stupid logo and slogan unveiled for Maldives.

David Hardingham is a friend of Maldives President Nasheed and Honorary Consul of the Maldives in Salisbury (UK). His online newspaper Minivan News is given the task of polishing the image of Nasheed’s government and concealing the unpopularity of Nasheed.

ސަންލޭންޑްގެ މެނޭޖިން ޑިރެކްޓަރު ޝަބީރު އަހުމަދު މިތިން ރަށަށް ވަކި ތިން ޕްރޮޕޯސަލް ހުށަހެޅީ ޒަކީ ބުނެގެން ކަމެއް ޔަގީނެއް ނޫނެވެ. ނަމަވެސް އެފަހަރު ޝަބީރަށް ކާމިޔާބުވިއެވެ. އޭރު ޝަބީރު ބޭނުންވެފައި ހުރީ އެންމެ ރިސޯޓެކެވެ. މޭޒު އަޑިން ހެދި ޑީލްތަކަކަށް ފަހު ޒަކީ ޝަބީރަށް ވިސްނާދިނީ ކިހާދުއްޕަރުގައި ރިސޯޓެއް ހަދަން އަތަމާއަށް ދިނުމަށެވެ. ޒަކީގެ ދެއަނބިންގެ ތެރެއިން އެއް އަނބި މަސްއޫދާ އަކީ އަތަމާ އާއިލާ މީހެކެވެ.

ޝަބީރު ނެގީ ހަމައެކަނި ދުނިކޮޅެވެ. ދެން ވެލާވަރު އޭނާ ދިނީ ޒަކީއަށެވެ. ޒަކީ ވެލާވަރު ވިއްކާލީ ޗަމްޕާ ހުސައިން އަފީފަށެވެ. ވެލާވަރުގެ މައްސަލައިގައި ވީގޮތަކީ ޓޫރިޒަމް މިނިސްޓްރީގެ ރިސޯޓު ބިޑާއި ބެހޭ ކޮމިޓީގެ ބޮޑު މީހަކަށް ހުރި ޒަކީ ސަންލޭންޑަށް ތިން ރިސޯޓު ލިބުމުގެ ބޭނުންކޮށް ނާޖާއިޒު ފައިދާ ނަގާކަން އޭރުގެ ރައީސް މައުމޫނަށް އެގުނީއެވެ. ދެން މިކަން އޮއްބާލަން ޒަކީއަށް ޖެހުނީ އޭރުގެ ރައީސްގެ އެގްޒެކެޓިވް ސެކެޓްރީ އަބްދުއްލާ ޝާހިދާއި އޭރުގެ އެޓާނީ ޖެނެރަލް ޑރ މުހައްމަދު މުނައްވަރުގެ އެހީ ހޯދާށެވެ.

މިކަން އޮއްބާލުމަށް އަބްދުއްލާ ޝާހިދާއި މުނައްވަރާއި ދެމީހުންކުރެ ކޮންމެ މީހަކަށް ޗަމްޕާ އަފީފު 500،000 ޑޮލަރު ދިނެވެ. ހަމަ އެއަދަދަށް ޒަކީއަށް ވެސް އަފީފު ހުށަހެޅިއެވެ. ނަމަވެސް ޒަކީ ބޭނުންވީ އެއަށްވުރެ ގިނައިންނެވެ. ޗަމްޕާ އަފީފު ހުރީ ވެލާވަރު ހޯދަން ވަރަށް ބޭނުންވެފައި ކަމަށްވާތީ އެންމެ ފަހުން އޭނާ ޒަކީއަށް ހުށަހެޅީ ޒަކީގެ ގެ 8 ބުރިއަށް އިމާރާތްކޮށްދީ އެންމެ މަތީގައި ސްވިމިން ޕޫލެއް ހަދާދިނުމަށެވެ. ޒަކީ މިކަމަށް ދެން އެއްބަސްވެއްޖެއެވެ.

އެކަމަކު ޒަކީ 3 ރަށް ހޯދުމުން އެކަމާ އޭރުގެ ރައީސް މައުމޫން ހިތްހަމައެއް ނުޖެހުނެވެ. އެއީ ޒަކީ މައުމޫނަށް ބައި ނާޅާތީއެވެ. މިރަށްތަކުގެ މައްސަލައަކީ ޒަކީ އަށް ފަހުން ވެސް އުދަގުލަކަށް ވެފައި އޮތް ކަމެކެވެ. މައުމޫނު 2003 ނޮވެމްބަރުގައި ޒަކީ ކެބިނެޓުން ބޭރުކޮށްލި އެއް ސަބަބަށް މިކަން ވެދާނެއެވެ.

އިބްރާހިމް ހުސައިން ޒަކީގެ ޓޫރިޒަމް މިނިސްޓަރު ކަމުގައި 14 ރަށެއް ރިސޯޓަށް ހެދުމަށް ބިޑަށް ލެވުނެވެ. ބައެއް ރިސޯޓު ހިންގާ މީހުން އަތުން ޒަކީ ރިޝްވަތުގެ ގޮތުގައި ފައިސާ ނަގައި އޭނާގެ ބާރާއި ނުފޫޒުގެ ބޭނުންކޮށްގެން އެމީހުންނަށް ރިސޯޓު ހެދުމަށް ރަށްތައް ކާމިޔާބުކޮށްދިނެވެ.

އެދުވަސްވަރު ޒަކީއާއި އޭނާގެ އާއިލާ ވަރަށް ގިނައިން ޅޮހިފުށި ރިސޯޓުގައި ޗުއްޓީ ހޭދަކުރިއެވެ. އެރިސޯޓުގެ ވެރިން ޒަކީއަށް ވަރަށް ރަގަޅަށް މެހުމާންދާރީ އަދާކުރިއެވެ. މީގެ ބަދަލުގައި ޑިމްސްގެ ހިއްސާދާރުން ސޯލިހުއާއި އިބްރާހިމް ދީދީއަށް ކޮންމެ މީހަކަށް ރިސޯޓެއް އެފަހަރު ލިބުނެވެ. ރިސޯޓުތައް ދިން ފަހުން އެތައް ދުވަހެއް ވީފަހުން ވެސް ޒަކީއަށް ޑިމްސްއިން ޗެކު ލިބެމުންދިޔައެވެ.

ޒަކީއާއެކު ޒަކީގެ ރަހުމަތްތެރި އޭރުގެ ބަންޑާރަ ނައިބު ޑރ މުނައްވަރު ވެސް ރިސޯޓުތަކަށް ގޮސް ރާބޮއެ އުޅުނެވެ. މުނައްވަރު ވަނީ ސަންލޭންޑް ގްރޫޕާއި އާއިލީ ގޮތުން ވެސް ގުޅިފައެވެ. ސާދަ ރަށުގެ ތެރެއިން ސަންލޭންޑަށް ވެސް ރަށްތަކެއް ލިބުނެވެ.

ޒަކީގެ ކަރަޕްޝަނާއި މެދު އޭރުގެ ރައީސް މައުމޫން އަޅާނުލާ ހުއްޓަސް ޒަކީ ހުދުފުށީގެ ބިޑުގެ ކަންތައް ގެންދިޔަ ގޮތާއި މެދުގައި މައުމޫނު ހިތްހަމައެއް ނުޖެހުނެވެ. ގިރާވަރު ރިސޯޓު ހިންގާ އަބްދުލްރައޫފް އެރަށް ހޯދުމަށް ބިޑުކުރިއެވެ. މައުމޫނު ބޭނުންވީ ރައޫފަށް އެރަށް ކާމިޔާބު ވުމަށެވެ. ސަބަބަކީ މައުމޫނުގެ ދޮށީ ފިރިހެން ދަރި ފާރިޝް އިނދެގެން އުޅެނީ ރައޫފްގެ އަންހެން ދަރިއަކާ ކަމަށްވާތީއެވެ. ވީމާ ހުދުފުށި އަލުން ބިޑަށްލީއެވެ. ދެން ކާމިޔާބުކުރީ ރައޫފެވެ. އެކަމަކު އެތައް އަހަރެއް ވީއިރުވެސް ރައޫފް އެރަށުގައި ރިސޯޓެއް ނަހަދައެވެ. އެގްރިމެންޓާއި ހިލާފުވިޔަސް މައުމޫނު މިކަމާ އަޅައެއް ނުލައެވެ. ހުދުފުއްޓަކީ މަޑި ވިހާ ބޮޑުވާ ތަނަކަށްވާތީ ވަރަށް ގިނަ ދިވެހިން ބޭނުންވަނީ ރިސޯޓެއް ހެދުމުގެ ބަދަލުގައި އެތަން ރައްކާތެރިކޮށްފައި ބާއްވާށެވެ.

ރިސޯޓު ހެދުމަށް ރަށްތައް ހޮވިއިރު ތިމާވެއްޓަކަށް ނުބަލައެވެ. އިސްމާއިލް ފިރާގު ކަހަލަ ޓޫރިޒަމް މިނިސްޓްރީގެ ވެރިން ރަށްތައް ހޮވަން ވެގެން ބޮއެގެން ތިބެ ގޮސް ރަށްތައް ބަލާފައި ރަށްތައް ކަނޑައެޅީއެވެ.

ޒަކީ ޓޫރިޒަމް މިނިސްޓަރެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި ޓޫރިޒަމް އިންޑަސްޓްރީގެ ތެރޭ އަދި ބޭރު ދުނިޔޭގައި ވެސް ވަރަށް މަގުބޫލެވެ. ކުރީގެ ސާކު ސެކްރެޓަރީ ޖެނެރަލްގެ ގޮތުން އޭނާ ވަނީ ކަންތައް ހާސިލުކުރާ މީހެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި ފާހަގަވެފައެވެ. އެހެން މިނިސްޓަރުން ޒަކީއާއި މެދުގައި ހަސަދަވެރިވެ އިންފޮމޭޝަން މިނިސްޓަރު އިބްރާހިމް މަނިކު (މައުމޫނުގެ އަންހެނުން ނަސްރީނާގެ ޅިޔަނު ސަމަރޭ) ޒަކީއަށް ޓީވީއިން ވެސް ވަރަށް ފުރުސަތު ނުދެއެވެ.

ޒަކީގެ މަގުބޫލުކަމަކީ އެހެން މިނިސްޓަރުންނާއި މައުމޫނަށް ވެސް އޮތް ނުރައްކަލަކަށް ވިއެވެ. ވީމާ ޒަކީ ކެބިނެޓުން ބޭރުކޮށްލާނެ ކަމަށް ވާހަކަ ދެކެވުނެވެ.

1998 ވަނަ އަހަރުގެ ރިޔާސީ އިންތިހާބަށްފަހު މައުމޫނު އޭނާގެ ކެބިނެޓު ނެގިއިރު ޒަކީ މިނިސްޓްރީ އޮފް ޕްލޭނިން އެންޑް ނެޝަނަލް ޑިވެލޮޕްމަންޓަށް ބަދަލުކުރިއެވެ. ބައެއް މީހުން ބުނާގޮތުގައި ޒަކީ ކެބިނެޓުން ބޭރު ނުކުރީ ޒަކީ އަކީ މައުމޫނުގެ ބަޔޯގްރަފީ “އަމޭން ފޯ އޯލް އައިލޭންޑްސް” ގެ އެއް މޭސްތިރިކަމަށް ވާތީއެވެ. މިފޮތް ލިޔުނީ ރޯއިސްޓަން އެލިސް ކިޔާ މީހެކެވެ. ފޮތަށް ހަރަދުކުރީ ޗަމްޕާ ހުސައިން އަފީފު ފަދަ މުއްސަދި ރިސޯޓު ހިންގާމީހުންނެވެ. މިއީ މައުމޫނުގެ ނަން މަޝްހޫރުކުރުމަށް ލިބުނު އިތުރު ބާރެކެވެ.

ހިންގާ މީހެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި ޕްލޭނިން މިނިސްޓަރުގެ ގޮތުގައި ވެސް ޒަކީ ފާހަގަވިއެވެ. އައްޑު އަތޮޅު ވިލިގިލީގައި ރިސޯޓު ހެދުމަށް ހެދި ކުންފުންޏެއްގެ ހިއްސާދާރުންނަށް ޒަކީއާއި މުނައްވަރު ވީވެސް މިދުވަސްވަރުގައެވެ. މިރިސޯޓު ހެދުމުގައި ސަރުކާރު ވެސް ހިއްސާ ވާތީއާއި އެކުގައި ޒަކީ މިކަމުގައި ބައިވެރިވީ މައުމޫނުގެ ރުހުމާއި އެކުގައިކަން އެގެއެވެ.

2003 ވަނަ އަހަރުގެ ރިޔާސީ އިންތިހާބަށް ފަހުގައި މައުމޫނު ކެބިނެޓު އިއުލާން ކުރިއިރު ޒަކީއަށް ޖާގައެއް ނުދެއެވެ. މައުމޫނާއި އޭނާގެ ކޮއްކޮ އަބްދުއްލާ ހަމީދު، ހަމީދުގެ ދަރި ހަމްދޫނަށް ކެބިނެޓު މަގާމެއް ދޭން ބޭނުންވެފައި ތިބޭތާ އޭރު ދުވަސްތަކެއް ވެއްޖެއެވެ. އޭރު ޑެޕިއުޓީ ޕްލޭނިން މިނިސްޓަރަކަށް ހުރި ހަމްދޫން ބޭނުންވީ ހަމައެކަނި މަގާމަކީ ޕްލޭނިން މިނިސްޓަރުކަމެވެ.

ޒަކީއަށް އެހެން މިނިސްޓްރީއެއް ވެސް ހަވާލު ކުރެވިދާނެއެވެ. ނަމަވެސް މައުމޫނު އޭނާއަށް ދޭން އުޅުނީ އޭރު މައުމޫނު އުފައްދަން އުޅުނު ހިއުމަން ރައިޓްސް ކޮމިޝަންގެ ޗެއާރޕާސަން ކަމެވެ. މިއީ ވަޒީރު ފެންވަރުގެ މަގާމަކަށް ނުވުމުން ޒަކީ އެކަން ގަބޫލެއް ނުކުރިއެވެ.

ޒަކީ ޕްލޭނިން މިނިސްޓަރަކަށް ހުރި އިރު މަގާމުގެ ނާޖާއިޒު ފައިދާ ނެގި އަނެއް ކަމަކީ ރީތި ރަށް ރިސޯޓު ބޮޑުކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތެއް ހުއްޓުވައިގެންނެވެ. އެރިސޯޓަކީ ރައްޔިތުންގެ މަޖިލީހުގެ ބ. އަތޮޅު މެންބަރު ތަސްމީނު އަލީގެ ބައްޕަ މިނާ ކުޑޭގެ ރިސޯޓެކެވެ. ރީތި ރަށުގެ މަސައްކަތް ކުރިޔަށް ގެންދިއުމުގެ ހުއްދަ ހޯދައި ރައީސް މައުމޫނު އެކަމަށް އެއްބަސް ކުރުވުމަށް ޒަކީ ބޭނުންކުރީ ރައީސްގެ އެގްޒެކެޓިވް ސެކްރެޓަރީ އަބްދުއްލާ ޝާހިދާއި ޒަކީއާއި ދެމެދު އޮންނަ ރަހުމަތްތެރިކަމެވެ. މިކަމުގެ ބަދަލުގައި ރީތި ރަށުން ޒަކީ 2 މިލިޔަން ޑޮލަރު ހޯދިއެވެ.

ޒަކީ ޝާހިދަށް މިކަމުގައި ދިނީ ކިހާވަރެއްގެ ފައިސާއެއް ކަމެއް ނޭގެއެވެ. ހީވާގޮތުގައި މައުމޫނަށް ވެސް އެފަހަރު ބައި އެޅިއެވެ.

ކްލަބް މެޑުން ހިންގި ފަރުކޮޅު ރިސޯޓުގެ ކަންތައްގަނޑެއް ސަރުކާރުން ތަހުގީގު ކުރަމުން ދަނިކޮށް ޒަކީ އެކަން ހުއްޓުވީ ޒަކީއަށް 15،000 ޑޮލަރު ދިނުމުންނެވެ. މިއީ ޒަކީ ނަގަމުން ދިޔަ ބޮޑު ރިޝްވަތުތަކާ އަޅާކިޔާއިރު ކުޑަ އަދަދެއް ނަމަވެސް އޭނާގެ ކާރުތައް ބެލެހެއްޓުމަށް ފުދޭވަރެއްގެ އަދަދެކެވެ. ”

First of all Congratulations to you reform fighters, indeed the hard work is paying off Maldives had begun to enter a new era in the recent months. But Sadly this time I am here to shed some light on an another angle.

Correct me if I am Wrong, that Two of the worst Corrupt Scoundrels Mr. Munawwaru and Mr. Zaki are MDP general council members, also Mr. Munawwaru appearing in the DO dream team.

This had to be the worst joke I heard in my whole life. Two ex-cons from the Maumoon regime. When they lose Money laundering posts suddenly become pure democracy fighters.

What I cant believe is that how can they claim their innocence without going to court for the publics money they stole while in their respective posts.

This is no “THO THO WAAHAKA ” these are proved points, there are no words to describe but CORRUPT for those two.

I like to highlight some CRIMES in detail.

Mr. ZAKI:

1 – Involved in high profile UNDERHAND DEALS when he was in Tourism at the time of bidding and Leasing back then. (refer to SANDHAANU for more)
2 – Un-countable UNDERHAND DEALS and Money Laundering from Major projects back then in Planning Ministry (Link road, “Kalhuhan” deals etc )
3 – Used Planning Ministry resources to Conduct personal Business.
4 – A DRUNK.( see SANDHAANU for more )

The above statements pale in comparison to what extent of Money he actually robbed back in those days, my estimate is that it will be over 1 MILLION IN ILLEGAL FUNDS. Also he was an avid supporter of Maumoon who held posts in the “CONSULTANT” area mainly rigging development figures published from Annual reports in MPND and supporting to publish the book “A MAN FOR ALL ISLANDS”. Also he has been said to coax and harass female employs to attend resorts and go Abroad with him. Failure will be fatal. EG: LIKE THE TIME HE WENT ON TO LANKA WITH SOME BUSINESS ASSOCIATES ACCOMPANIED BY SELECTED 11 OR MORE FEMALE EMPLOYEES FROM MPND (no heads were informed, or Males were taken and the funny thing is the parents were notified that they were going to a “STUDY TRIP” did not even appear in the YAUMIYYA. I feel sad for the girls parents and disgrace be for those bunch of girls considered cheap entertainment. WELL DONE.

Mr. MUNAWWARU:

Without a doubt the main henchman in law for Maumoon at that time. All the cases in the Human Rights commission will be infact partially blamed on him and the Embarrassment for all reformists will be the Statement published in the Daily Newspapers this week, A LETTER CRITICIZING AND COMPLICATING WHY POLITICAL PARTIES CANT BE REGISTERED IN THE MALDIVES. This was the same man now who is shouting as hell to get the parties registered. WE DON’T NEED DOUBLE TALKERS.

So maybe these are my points of view, but with truth no body can deny. in the meantime I offer my full support for True reformers as ANNI, REEKO, SAPPE’, IBRA etc as people who have suffered and are true human beings interested not to just “FILL EMPTY SPACES” as mentioned in the last
nights reform meeting. The reform board should be free from ex-Maumoon Stooges and “RATS JUMPING FROM A SINKING SHIP”.

Lets put things aside with this BIASED story. Look we all want to send Maumoon out of the People’s House. In fact I would vote a hay sack rather than vote for Maumoon. So lets all stick together for now atleast.

Mr, Sappe’ as I’ve read DO as the peoples press, I would like to remind you keep it as such. Not the mouthpiece of MDP. Like to include any corrupt politician regardless they are anti-Maumoon or not. Like the two hired Goons Zaki and Munavvar. I think if anyone who had tasted the peoples wealth illegally should be included in the FrontPage of DO.

The Tourism Ministry has renewed the lease for Hudhufushi in Lhaviyani Atoll despite the resort island’s owner owing more than US$85 million in unpaid rent.

According to a 2009 audit report, Hudhufushi’s leasee Abdul Rauf owed US$57.7 million in unpaid rent to the government going back to 2002, the majority of the amount accumulated fines from years of non-payment.

The lease rent owned by the Hudhufushi resort is one of the government’s largest debtors in the tourism sector, and was noted in both the tourism ministry and trade ministry’s audit reports for 2007.

Under the original 35 year lease agreement signed between Rauf and the government in 2000, the resort was to open on June 30, 2002.

Former Auditor General Ibrahim Naseem, dismissed by parliament last year days after ordering past and present government ministers to submit to an audit of their assets, had recommended repossessing the island and establishing a mechanism to take legal action against tax evasion.

His audit suggested that at least Rf117 million (US$910,000) of the amount was recoverable.

Local media this week reported that the debt had climbed to US$85 million, and that the government had renewed the lease under a new agreement stating that the amount would be paid back starting from the 11th year of the agreement.

In addition, the agreement requires two payments of US$750,000 before June 1 and December 1 of this year, local newspaper Haveeru reported, or it will be terminated.

When rumours started in Male that Zulfa was to be appointed tourism minister, some websites and blogs speculated that she would be appointed because her brother is Mohamed Zuhair, the press secretary at president’s office. Who is Munavvar blog, which has at times taken up issues that we are also concerned with such as the high internet tariffs in the Maldives, was at the forefront of that speculation.

Zulfa was indeed appointed tourism minister but not because of her brother. Zuhair and Zulfa come from very different political backgrounds.

Zulfa is married to Sim Ibrahim Mohamed, who is the Secretary-General of Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), the lobby group of the rich tourism tycoons. Sim has been filling that position for over a decade and he is the mouthpiece of the resort owners. Sim is also a member of the Hinnavaru clan which is getting more and more powerful in the current government. Those connections secured Zulfa a seat in cabinet.

In short, President Nasheed has handed over the Ministry of Tourism to resort owners from MATI by appointing Zulfa as tourism minister. Zulfa will make sure the riches of the Maldives tourism industry will go into the hands of a few people. In return, the powerful tourism tycoons will back Nasheed in his re-election bid for 2013.

The tourism tycoons backed General Maumoon Abdul Gayoom during his 30 years as dictator of Maldives. They funded his election campaigns. On national holidays newspaper pages were filled with ads from tourism tycoons sending greetings to “His Excellency Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and Madam Nasreena Gayoom.”

Mariyam Zulfa was rumoured to be a mistress for Gayoom. Whether these rumours are true or not, Zulfa remained a vocal supporter of Gayoom till recent days. When she was studying in Australia she sent threats and harassed Fareesha Abdulla and Michael O’Shea, the editors of the website Maldivesculture.com, which exposed the Gayoom regime.

ތުލުސްދޫއަށް ފުލުހުން ފޮނުވައި އެތަނުގައި ރައްޔިތުންނާ ފުލުހުންނާ ދެމެދު މާރާމާރީ ހިގަން ޖެހުނީ ޖީސަސް އަފީފުގެ ނޭއްގާނީ ސިޔާސަތުގެ ސަބަބުންނެވެ. ރައްޔިތުންނާ ކުރިމަތިލުމުގެ ސަބަބުން ފުލުހުންގެ އަގު ވެއްޓޭގޮތަށް ފުލުހުންގެ މުއައްސަސާގެ އަގު ވެއްޓޭ ގޮތަށް އަމަލުކޮށްފައިވަނީ ހޯމް މިނިސްޓަރުގެ އެންގުމަށެވެ. މިކަމާއި ދެކޮޅު ހެދުމުން ޑެޕިއުޓީ ކޮމިޝަނަރ އޮފް ޕޮލިސް ރިޝްވާން ސަސްޕެންޑް ކޮށްފިއެވެ. ރިޝްވާނަކީ މައުމޫނު ދުވަސްވަރު އުފެދުނު އެންމެ ނުރައްކާތެރި ސްޓާރ ފޯސްއަށް ޓްރޭނިން ދިން މީހާ ކަމަށް ވިޔަސް ފަހަކަށް އައިސް ފުލުހުންގެ ކިބައިގައި ހުންނަން ޖެހޭ ޑިސިޕްލިން ރިޝްވާންގެ ކިބައިން ދަނީ ފެންނަމުންނެވެ. އަދި ފުލުހުންގެ ތެރޭ އޭނާއަކީ އިހުތިރާމް ލިބިފައިވާ މީހެކެވެ. ފުލުހުންގެ އިސް އޮފިސަރުން ސިޔާސީ ސަބަބުތަކާހެދި ސިޔާސީ މީހުންގެ އޯޑަރަށް ސަސްޕެންޑް ކުރަން ފެށުމުން ގައުމު ވަރަށް ނުބައި ފައްތަރަކަށް ވެއްޓުނީއެވެ.

ޖީސަސް އަފީފް ތުލުސްދޫ މައްސަލައިގައި މިހާބޮޑަށް ތެޅިގަންނަ އެއް ސަބަބަކީ ތުލުސްދޫ ދާއިރާގެ މެންބަރު ރޮޒޭނާއަށް ލަނޑެއް ދިނުމަށެވެ. މިނޫނަސް އެމްޑީޕީއާ ޑީއާރުޕީއާއި މައްސަލަ ޖެހޭ ކިތަންމެ ފަހަރެއް އާދެއެވެ. މިއީ ފުލުހުން ތުލުސްދޫއަށް ފޮނުވައިގެން ތަޅުދަނޑި ނުހިފެހެއްޓިޔަސް ސުލްހަވެރިކަމާ އެކު ހައްލު ކުރެވިދާނެ ވަރުގެ ކަމެކެވެ. މިކަމުގެ ފަހަތުގައިވަނީ ޑީއާރުޕީގެ ލީޑަރު ތަސްމީން އަލީ އާއި ޕީއޭގެ ލީޑަރު އަބްދުއްލާ ޔާމީންއާއި ދެމެދު ފެށިފައިވާ ހަނގުރާމައެވެ. އަފީފް ކުރާ ހުރިހާ ކަމެއް އެކުރަނީ ޔާމީންގެ އޯޑަރަށެވެ. ޑީއާރުޕީގެ ފަރާތުން ތުލުސްދޫ މައްސަލައިގައި ކުރިޔަށް ނިކުމެ އެތިބީ ތަސްމީނަށް ތަބާވާ މީހުންނެވެ. ރޮޒޭނާއާއި އަލީ ވަހީދާއި މަވޯޓާ ޝަރީފެވެ. މިއީކީ އެމްޑީޕީގެ މަސްލަހަތު އޮތް ކަމެއް ނޫނެވެ.

މަޑޫގަލި ރިސޯޓަކީ ޖީސަސް އަފީފުގެ ހިއްސާ އޮންނަ ރިސޯޓެކެވެ. މިނޫނަސް މީނާގެ ކިތަންމެ ވިޔަފާރިއެއް އެބަ ހުއްޓެވެ. މިދިޔަ އަހަރު ރ އަތޮޅާއި ނ އަތޮޅުން ރިސޯޓު ހަދަން ރަށްތަކެއް އިއުލާން ކުރީ ވެސް އަފީފަށް ރިސޯޓުތަކެއް ހޯދާ ދިނުމަށެވެ. އަފީފުގެ ހިއްސާ އޮންނަ ކުންފުންޏަށް ދެތިން ރަށް ކާމިޔާބު ކުރެވުނެވެ. ނަމަވެސް ކަނޑައެޅިފައިވާ މުއްދަތުގައި ސަރުކާރަށް ފައިސާ ނުދެއްކިގެން ޓޫރިޒަމް މިނިސްޓްރީ ބައެއް ރަށްތައް ވަނީ އަތުލާފައެވެ. އަދި ފައިސާގެ ގޮތުން ތަންކޮޅެއް ދަތިކޮށް އުޅުނަސް މިދައުރު ނިމޭ އިރު މީނާ ވެސް ވަރަށް ބޮޑު މަހުޖަނަކަށް ވާނެއެވެ. އެމްޑީޕީގެ ހުރިހާ ސިއްރުތަކެއް ޔާމީނަށް ކިޔާދެމުން ގޮސް އެންމެ ފަހު ވަގުތު މީނާ ޔާމީން ވެރިކަމަށް ގެންނަން މަސައްކަތް ނުކުރާނެ ކަމެއް ވެސް ނޭގެއެވެ. ޔާމީންގެ މިނުބައި ނުލަފާ އެޖެންޓުގެ ކިބައިން އެމްޑީޕީ ސަލާމަތް ކުރުމަކީ އެމްޑީޕީގެ ހުރިހާ މެންބަރުންގެ މައްޗަށް އޮތް ވާޖިބެކެވެ. އަދި ޖީސަސް އަފީފު ސަރުކާރުގެ ނުފޫޒު ބޭނުންކޮށްގެން ހިންގާ ކަރަޕްޝަނުގެ އަމަލުތައް ފަޅާއަރުވާލައި ތަހުގީގު ކުރަން ފެށުމަށް ދިވެހި ފުލުހުންނަށް އިލްތިމާސް ކުރަމެވެ.

މާރިޔާ އެމްޑީޕީގެ ޗެއަރޕާސަނަކަށް ހުރީތީ އޭނާގެ އާއިލާގެ ދުރުތާ ތިމާގެ މީހުންނަށް ވެސް ސަރުކާރުގެ ބޮޑެތި މަގާމުތައް ބަހަން ޖެހިއްޖެއެވެ. މިއީ މައުމޫނުގެ އާއިލާ މީހުންނަށް ބޮޑެތި މަގާމުތައް ދީގެން މައްސަލަ ޖެއްސި މީހުން ވެރިކަމަށް އައުމަށްފަހު ކަންތައް ކުރަން ފެށި ގޮތެވެ. މާރިޔާގެ ކޮއްކޮ ހައުލާ ނިއުޓްރިޝަން ކިޔަވައިގެން އައިމާ އޭނާ ފޮރިން މިނިސްޓްރީގެ ޑެޕިއުޓީ ފޮރިން މިނިސްޓަރަކަށް އައްޔަން ކޮށްފިއެވެ. މާރިޔާގެ ދައްތަގެ ދަރިފުޅު މިފްޒާލް ރާއްޖޭގެ ކަންތައް ހިންގުމުގެ އެއްވެސް ތަޖުރިބާއެއް ނެތް ޒުވާނެއް ކަމަކު އިންވެސްޓް މޯލްޑިވްސްގެ މަތީ މަގާމަކަށް އައްޔަންކޮށްފިއެވެ. ދެން ފެނުނީ އިންވެސްޓް މޯލްޑިވްސްއަށް ލިބުނު ހުށަހެޅުމެއް އޭނާ އަމިއްލަ ކޮށްލައިގެން މެގަ މޯލްޑިވްސް ކިޔާ އެއާލައިނެއް ހެދިތަނެވެ.

އެމްޑީޕީގެ ޕާލަމެންޓަރީ ގްރޫޕްގެ ލީޑަރު ރީކޯ މޫސާ މަނިކަކީ އަބަދުވެސް ފަތުހުއްލާ ޖަމީލާއި އާދަމް ޒާހިރު ބުނާ ކަމެއް ކޮށްދީގެން އުޅުނު “ބޯއީ” އެކެވެ. މިއަދު ސްޓޭޖަށް އަރާ މައުމޫނުގެ ދައުރުގައި ތިމަންނައަށް ވަރަށް އަނިޔާ ކުރިއޭ ކިޔާ ފެލޭއިރު މިނަގޫބަޅު ވިޔަފާރި ކުރަން އުޅުނީ މައުމޫނުގެ ދައުރުގެ އެންމެ ބޮޑު އެއް އަނިޔާވެރިޔާ އާދަމް ޒާހިރާއެކުގައެވެ. އެމްޑީޕީއަށް ވެރިކަމަށް އާދެވުމުން ރީކޯ މޫސައަށް ވެސް ތިމަންނަގެ ފެންވަރަކީ ހޮލީވުޑްގެ ސުޕަ ސްޓާރެއްގެ ފެންވަރޭ ހީވެއްޖެއެވެ. މީނާގެ އަންހެން ދަރިފުޅު އިދެގެން އުޅޭ ޖާވީދު (ބަނބުކެޔޮ ޖާ) ކުރިޔަށް ނެރެގެން ބޮޑެތި ވިޔަފާރީގެ ޑީލްތައް ހަދަން ފަށައިފިއެވެ. މިއަދު މިއޮތީ ތިލަފުށި ކޯޕަރޭޝަނުން ބިޑް ކުރުމެއް ނެތި ރީކޯ މޫސަގެ ކުންފުނި ހެވީލޯޑަށް ބޮޑު މަޝްރޫއެއް ދިން ކަން ފަޅާ އަރާފައެވެ.

ރައީސް އޮފީހުގެ ފިނޭންސް ސެކެޓްރީ އަހުމަދު މައުސޫމުގެ ހަގީގަތް ވެސް ރައްޔިތުންނަށް މިއަދު ފަޅާ އަރައިފިއެވެ. އޭނާގެ މަސްލަހަތު އޮންނަ ވިޔަފާރި ކުންފުންޏަކުން ސިގިރޭޓަށް ޑިއުޓީ މަދުން ދައްކައިގެން އެތެރެކުރަން އުޅުނު ކަން ފަޅާއަރައިފިއެވެ.

މިހުރިހާ ކަމެއް ވަމުންދާއިރު އަބްދުއްލާ ޔާމީން ބަރުމާއަށް ތެޔޮ ވިއްކައިގެން ނާޖާއިޒު ފައިދާތަކެއް ހޯދަން ވެގެން އެސްޓީއޯ މެދުވެރިކޮށް ކުރި މަސައްކަތް ވެސް ވަނީ ފަޅާއަރާފައެވެ. ހަގީގަތަކީ ޔާމީނަކީ މައުމޫނުގެ ވެރިކަމުގެ ފަހުގެ އަހަރުތަކުގައި އުފެދުނު އެންމެ ކަރަޕްޓް މީހާއެވެ. އިލްޔާސްގެ ބާރު ކަނޑުވާލުމަށްޓަކައި މައުމޫނު ޔާމީން ކައިރި ކުރިއިރު އޭނާއަށް ހަވާލުކުރީ ހަމައެކަނި ޓްރޭޑް މިނިސްޓްރީއެއް ނޫނެވެ. ޒަމާނުއްސުރެ އިލްޔާސްގެ ނުފޫޒު އޮތް އެސްޓީއޯ ވެސް ހަވާލުކުރީއެވެ. ދެން އެވަރުން ނުވެގެން ސްޓެލްކޯ ވެސް ހަވާލުކުރީއެވެ. ފަނަރަ ވަރަކަށް އަހަރު ވެސް ނުވަނީސް ޔާމީން ރާއްޖޭގެ އެންމެ މުއްސަދި އެކަކަށް ވެއްޖެއެވެ. ނަމަވެސް ޔާމީންގެ މައްސަލަތައް ބަލާކަށް އެމްޑީޕީއަކަށް ކުޅަދާނަވެގެންނެއް ނުވެއެވެ. ސަބަބަކީ ޔާމީންގެ ވިޔަފާރީގެ ތެރޭގައި އެމްޑީޕީގެ އިސް ވެރިން ވެސް ހިމެނޭތީއެވެ. ޔާމީންގެ މައްސަލަ ބަލާނަމަ އެމްޑީޕީއަށް މިހާރު ހަރަދުކޮށް މަޖިލިސް މެންބަރުން އެމްޑީޕީއަށް ގަނެދޭ އަބްދުއްލާ ޖާބިރުގެ މައްސަލަތައް ވެސް ބަލަން ޖެހެއެވެ. ކުރިން ރައީސްގެ ސްޕެޝަލް އެޑްވައިޒަރަކަށް ހުރި މިހާރުގެ ހޯމް މިނިސްޓަރ ހަސަން އަފީފު (ޖީސަސް) ގެ މައްސަލަ ވެސް ބަލަން ޖެހެއެވެ. މިއީ މުޅިންވެސް ޔާމީންގެ ވިޔަފާރި ތެރޭ ހިމެނޭ މީހުންނެވެ. މިހާރު އަޑު އިވެނީ އޭރީސް މައުސޫމަކީ ވެސް ޔާމީނުގެ އެޖެންޓެއް ކަމަށެވެ. ވީމާ ލަންކާއިން ގަނެފައި އޮތް ސައިފަތް ދަނޑުގެ މައްސަލައެއް ވެސް ނުބެލޭނެއެވެ. ބޭރުގެ މަސް ބޯޓުތައް ގެނެސްގެން ރާއްޖޭގެ މަސްކަނޑުތައް ވިއްކާލައި ކަޓު ނެގި މައްސަލައެއް ވެސް ނުބެލޭނެއެވެ. ބަލާނީ ކިހިނަކުންތޯއެވެ. ކަނޑު ވިއްކުމުގައި ޔާމީނާއި އެކު ބައިވެރިވެފައިވަނީ މިހާރު ފޮރިން މިނިސްޓްރީގެ ސްޓޭޓް މިނިސްޓަރު ކެރަފާ އަހުމަދު ނަސީމެވެ.

އެފްޕީއައިޑީގެ މައްސަލައެއް ވެސް ނުބެލޭނެއެވެ. އިލްޔާސް އިބްރާހިމް މިހާރު އެމްޑީޕީ ދެކެ ވާ ލޯތްބެއްގެ ބޮޑުކަމުންނާއި ސަޓޯ އެމްޑީޕީއަށް ދޭ ލާރީގެ ގިނަ ކަމުންނެވެ.

ދެން ހުރިހާ ރައްޔިތުން ގޮރު ބޮއެގެން ތިބޭށެވެ.

Dr Bari (R), in anti-Semitic protest

Dr Bari hails from a powerful and rich family of resort owners and owns shares in Sunland Resorts, the family business, despite his publicly proclaimed belief that sale of alcohol in resorts is forbidden in Islam. In fact, Dr Bari once bid for a tourist resort.

The Sunland Group had been successful in maintaining good contacts with current Special Envoy of the President Ibrahim Hussain Zaki when he was the Tourism Minister under former dictator General Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. In a case of corruption that involved Zaki, Sunland Group, former Attorney General Dr Mohamed Munavvar and Abdulla Shahid, current Speaker of Parliament who was Executive Secretary to the President at the time, Sunland was able to get 3 resorts in a bid opened to the public in 1997. The group became even more powerful when General Gayoom appointed Hussain Hilmy, one of the shareholders of Sunland, as Minister of Youth and Sports on 21 July 2005. Hilmy resigned from Cabinet on 5 August 2008, in the dying days of General Gayoom’s regime.

Sunland’s fortunes soared with the new government of President Nasheed as well. Dr Bari was appointed as Minister of Islamic Affairs in the first Cabinet Nasheed formed. Husnu Al-Suood, who succeeded Dhiyana Saeed as Attorney-General, is related to Sunland family by marriage. Sunland’s shareholder Mohamed Nazeer was appointed as Minister for Trade and Commerce stationed at High Commission of Maldives in UK. Nazeer, a close associate of Ibrahim Hussain Zaki, was also a secret financier for Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) when it was in opposition. He was arrested by General Gayoom’s police because of his alliance with MDP.

It is not surprising when President Nasheed ignores the threats made by Adhaalath Party headed by Dr Bari that it will organize protests nationwide against the policies of the government. Nasheed cannot afford to sack Dr Bari even though the Adhaalath leader participated in the anti-Semitic protest, openly defying the government. Pro-MDP news website Minivan News has tried to tone down Dr Bari’s role in the protest when it reported the news of the resignation of Sheikh Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, who held the position of State Minister for Islamic Affairs. While researching for this article, we noticed links to some articles previously published in Minivan News that project a negative image of Dr Bari do not exist anymore. Whether this has been done deliberately to save the face of a member of Nasheed’s Cabinet, or if this was unintentional, is not clear.

Dr Bari will remain in Nasheed’s Cabinet but he is expected to wear a suit and tie, or dressed in formal attire, when attending the Cabinet meetings, in contrast to the white t-shirt with the words “100% Zionist Free Maldives” he wore when he preached hatred and antisemitism during the protest on 17 December.

‘One of you is an infidel. The other, too, is an infidel and, we have reason to believe, an atheist, who does not even believe in an infidel religion,’ Didi said while pretending to deliver a solemn religious chant.

What could cause such hatred among ordinary resort workers against people of other religions, you may wonder.

After President Nasheed was sworn in he invited a radical Islamist party to his government and assigned it the portfolio of Ministry of Islamic Affairs. The radical Adhaalath Party, which is led by extremist scholars educated from madrasas in Pakistan, has been spewing religious dogma and hatred towards people of other religions for the last two years. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has banned the youth in Maldives from organising dance parties. The same ministry once published on its website that the earthquake which struck Haiti was due to the sins of the infidels living there.

Nasheed’s government has been particularly successful in spreading the hatred and intolerance to the tourism sector. A few months ago, Nasheed’s government brought a radical Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik (the same preacher who was banned from entering the UK) to preach in the Maldives. Dr Naik claimed that tourism based on the sale of alcohol is forbidden. Dr Naik encouraged the Maldivians to practice only ‘Islamic tourism’.

While President Nasheed pretends to be a liberal democrat he is helping the Maldives turn into another Afghanistan. Western media and tourists have been fooled to believe that the wedding celebrant Hussain Didi has been arrested for insulting the tourists. However, the former resort worker is under custody for insulting Islam and disrupting ‘the religious harmony’ in the Maldives.  He may soon end up in one of the notorious jails in the Maldives and tortured by the prison guards.

As long as President Nasheed supports religious extremism in the Maldives, fake weddings and other insults against western tourists will continue in the Maldives. In August Nasheed pardoned two terrorists who set off a bomb in the capital Male in September 2007 injuring foreign tourists. This was the first terrorist attack motivated by religious extremism on Maldivian soil and the perpetrators were pardoned by Nasheed before they completed even a small part of their sentence. This shows protecting extremists is more important to Nasheed than the safety and well-being of western tourists.
