2004. Dr Zahir and General Gayoom were roommates at Al-Azhar University, Cairo. Dr Zahir owns Haveeru newspaper in addition to his orchid nursery. Haveeru now operates an FM radio station and is planning to launch a TV station. Dr Zahir is behind the strategies to keep Gayoom in power for another 30 years.
